Improving Outcomes Through Clinical Collaboration and Innovation
In today’s blog, Alan Robertson, Co-Founder at EKORA, and Martyn Dixon, Managing Director at CardioLogic, discuss the story behind their collaboration and how they hope to support cardiology teams facing today’s growing demands.
Cardiology teams are under increasing pressure. Rising patient numbers, growing complexity of care, and fragmented systems are making it harder for clinicians to deliver the care they know patients need. That’s why EKORA® and CardioLogic have partnered, to bring together clinical insight and digital innovation to make cardiology care safer, faster, and more coordinated.
Together, we’re building a future where digital tools support clinicians at every step, helping them spend less time on admin, and more time on patient care.
Why This Partnership Matters
EKORA® is a clinician-led cardiology platform, developed with NHS teams, that connects every aspect of cardiology care, from outpatient clinics and cath labs to cardiac device follow-up and multidisciplinary meetings. CardioLogic brings over two decades of experience introducing pioneering cardiac technology to UK hospitals.
This partnership means hospitals can now benefit from a unified offering: world-class devices, supported by a platform that helps ensure patients are seen at the right time, followed up properly, and always on the right treatment path.
Here is there Q&A
What made this partnership a natural fit?
Alan (EKORA):
CardioLogic have been active in the cardiology space for over two decades and are well known across the UK for bringing new innovations to hospitals. Their reputation for introducing thoughtful, effective technologies really stood out to us. From the very first conversation, we knew we shared a similar mindset, one that prioritises patient care and understands the pressures clinical teams are under.
Martyn (CardioLogic):
We partner with companies that share our vision of improving patient care through smart technology and strong clinical support. EKORA stood out, not just for the quality and stability of the platform, but for their unique understanding of the day-to-day challenges UK cardiology teams face. Their drive towards paperless, integrated workflows complements our existing portfolio and aligns with our mission to bring real, practical value to NHS and private centres.
What are the main benefits EKORA brings to CardioLogic’s portfolio?
Martyn:
First, EKORA brings a robust digital infrastructure for device clinics which is a space that we’ve worked in for many years and that has been stymied by manual data collection. EKORA’s platform makes remote monitoring of CIEDs more accessible and in-clinic workflows far more efficient.
It also supports a broad range of implantable cardiac devices, giving clinics a centralised solution that’s powerful and intuitive. Being able to offer a platform that strengthens daily workflows and integrates with how teams already work is a real advantage for our customers.
What makes EKORA different from other cardiology workflow tools?
Alan:
What sets EKORA apart is that it’s truly comprehensive. A lot of tools out there only address a single element, like managing device patients or scheduling for cath labs. EKORA brings everything together in one place: patient management, department coordination, data consolidation, follow-ups, cath lab and EP reporting and more.
It was built hand-in-hand by, and with, NHS clinicians, which means it reflects real-world workflows. It’s not a system that demands a complete overhaul either, it adapts to and improves the way people already work. That kind of flexibility and depth is rare.
What challenges do you commonly see in cardiology teams that EKORA can help solve?
Martyn:
It’s no secret that time is one of the biggest pain points for NHS and cardiology teams. The demands on device clinics are growing, but most are still juggling spreadsheets, paper systems, and disconnected tools to manage complex workflows.
EKORA helps bring everything into one place automating routine follow-up tasks, improving visibility and communication across the team, and making it easier to stay on top of patients. That centralisation makes a huge difference to efficiency and peace of mind.
How do you support healthcare professionals during rollout?
Alan:
Before rollout, we hold regular sessions with clinical staff and IT teams to understand how things work locally and where EKORA can provide the most value in solving their day-to-day ‘pain points’.
We offer training delivered by practising clinicians who already use EKORA, which helps staff see the system in action and understand its relevance to their day-to-day roles. Everyone gets a chance to trial the platform in test mode before going live, so they feel confident from day one. And after implementation, we maintain regular contact to address any issues and continue supporting the team.
What impact do you hope to see from this partnership across the UK?
Martyn:
We want to see cardiology teams feeling supported, not stretched. EKORA can help them reclaim time, reduce admin stress, and ultimately provide more responsive, personalised care to their patients. We need technology that works behind the scenes so clinical teams can focus on what matters most.
Alan:
We know the workload is only increasing and that many teams are facing ongoing staffing shortages. The departments already using EKORA tell us it’s had a massive impact on their ability to cope. If we can bring that same support to more clinics, help teams feel more in control, and give them tools they can trust — that’s a huge win for everyone.
Here’s how EKORA is helping clinical teams across the UK:
- See the full picture: Clinicians can view a single, structured record of each patient, including their device status, clinic follow-ups, cath lab procedures, and MDT reviews.
- Act sooner: Dashboards and alerts highlight when patients are overdue, at risk, or need review, so no one slips through the cracks.
- Reduce admin, not control: Clinician-designed workflows adapt to how teams already work, so staff don’t need to change systems or habits to see immediate benefit.
- Support better decisions: From identifying patients with severe LV dysfunction to optimising post-implant therapy, EKORA turns data into actionable insight.
What’s Next
EKORA and CardioLogic will continue working together to support hospitals in:
- Digitising device clinic workflows
- Streamlining cath lab scheduling
- Capturing structured data for audit, QI, and funding
- Supporting multidisciplinary care for complex cardiology patients
